Sadly, many times this has been the case for me. Partnering with the release manager, engineering manager, validation and a couple of devs who served as representatives from each team helped us assess what risks we could introduce into a new release and then to have a mitigation plan in place if we needed to put a new release on top that could get through a round of sanity testing, or if the current release is stable enough, be able to quickly roll back to that release.
What if Leadership doesn't care that releases are sub-optimal? :)
